Spiritual Growth

  God is spirit, and God is worshiped in truth and in the Spirit. This is why faith is not religion — it is life. Faith is a second birth in the Spirit, followed by spiritual growth into the image of the Lord Jesus Christ. So our faith is not manifested in religious routine and outer expressions, but in the transformation of life — from flesh guided by darkness toward spiritual life guided by the Holy Spirit.   Religion is about the outer part of life, but faith is about the inner part of life. In religion, the outer part is expected to mold the inner part. In faith, the inner is what transforms the outer. Religion is a life-molding environment, but faith is life-defining genetics. Religion works from the outside in, while faith works from the inside out.   After God took His people from Egypt, He did not lead them to the Promised Land through the land of the Philistines, as they were not ready for it. In Egypt, they had been worshiping idols and prostituting themselves with Egyptian demons. God even said that the breast of Israel in her youth was used for prostitution with idols and demons of Egypt. His wife came back to Him — actually, God rescued her — after her flower of youth was lost in prostitution. That is why taking those people directly into the Promised Land would not only have left them unfit as warriors, since they had no faith in God, but it would also have made them not the light of God, but the darkness of the devil in the Promised Land.   So God took them on the long detour around the Red Sea, into the land of hunger and thirst, so they would learn that man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.    There are critical questions about salvation in this age. Who is saved? Is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ enough to be saved? Do I have to preserve my salvation, and how? Can I lose my salvation?   Since I am not a caricature of theological and denominational bounds, these issues are not hard for me to understand. The Bible is clear, and there is no doubt about those questions — biblically speaking. Theological boxes of schools and denominational chains are binding, boxing, and chaining the Bible by human ignorance to blind people. But these issues are simple and not complex at all — we are blinded only by theology and denominational dirt in our eyes.   Is faith in Jesus enough? It depends on the nature of the faith: if it is real faith or wrong faith. It has to be the faith, not just any faith in Jesus. Simon the sorcerer believed in Jesus and was baptized in water.     Jesus said, “Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.” But blessed are you when they hate you, avoid you, insult you, and slander you because of your faith in the Lord Jesus. Rejoice, for your reward is in heaven. Just as the world did not accept Jesus — because He was not of this world and rebuked it for its sin — so too it will not accept His disciples. The world belongs to those who are of the world, who live in the flesh, and who are led by dark spirits — the false prophets.   Faith is not measured by popularity.     Imagine growing up eating real fruit for most of your life, and then you are given a highly processed fruit juice that is 10% or 25% fruit. It is sugary and has a hint of fruit, but it is not the real thing. It flatters the flesh and tastes sweet like sugar. Yet spiritually it is morbidity dressed as health — a slow poison. This diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and cancer-in-the-making is sweet on your tongue but poison to your spirit; it kills. This junk food is Judeo-Christian culture and religion — be it the dead ones (Orthodox and Catholic), the living ones who call themselves born again and temples of the Holy Spirit, or those weeds of the devil mixed with the wheat of the Lord — the heretics: progressive death, word-of-faith, prosperity gospel, and other Protestant heresies.    What is the faith? I believe the right faith is my faith. Against all humanity and against every culture and tradition of religion and religious groups, my point is: this is the only true faith there is — the faith. I do know many faithful who live for God, but they often lack such clarity. Many die for the faith, but when they produce fruit they do not try to replicate themselves; instead they build the faith into Judeo-Christian Protestant culture.   If I observe theology, I know the counter-argument: “Who do you think you are to claim that of all the people who have had faith for 2,000 years, you alone have the truth, the true faith?” Education is a dangerous thing, and the way theologians are mass-produced in such naïve philosophical environments can produce all the heresies of this age and the past.
